A series of posts chronicling my Word of Honor rewatch but with me mentally inserting Pokemon into the scenes. Why? Because it's there, to bastardise Mallory.

EPISODE 1

This guy was SO cool but gone too soon 🤧 Imagine him with his Weavile fucking shit up in the first fight scene.

So hear my completely unfounded fanon for this universe out: Four Seasons Manor was traditionally made up of primarily grass-type mains (and therefore why the sect, and the Window of Heaven by extension, has a strong knowledge base of poison techniques due to a lot of grass-types having poison as their secondary type). The poison ZZS gives Princess Jing'An to drink in this scene is derived from Vileplume's Poisonpowder...

...while the hairpin that Qin Jiuxiao gifts to her was fashioned from one of his Sawsbuck's plant-antler things. (Actually, I just looked up the grass-type's average speed stat and it's pretty shit tbh... so the Swift Moving Steps could be analogous to Stun Sporing everyone and quartering your enemies's speed.)

Poor old Uncle Bi and his cool-ass but ultimately doomed Venusaur.

Imagine Prince Jin and his terrifying Hydreigon lurking in the background. For obvious reasons I thought of a dragon-type Pokemon right of the bat for him, and wanted to pick a sinister, scary one to match his genial but also unhinged aura during his breakdown in episode 1 and later eps.

ZHOU ZISHU AND HIS UMBREON. ZHOU ZISHU AND HIS UMBREON. ZHOU ZISHU AND HIS... ahem. I subscribe to this agenda SO strongly that when my ZZS standee and my Umbreon fig actually arrives, it's all over for you fuckers. It looks unassuming but has superior bulk and survivability, and also has the right aesthetic and annoyer moves (Confuse Ray, Toxic) to match ZZS's whirlwind, unconventional fighting style. (Also his Magical Disguise Technique also gives Umbreon the appearance of a disheveled, nondescript Eevee.)

Would a lurking Chandelure not feel out of place in this shot of Ghost Valley Master in his kingdom? Okay, so in this universe, ghost-type Pokemon are pretty uncommon but not *completely* out-of-place - however, most commoners would still look askance at one being out and about. Wen Kexing brings his Chandelure out with him in his forays out in the jianghu but is always careful to keep it out of sight. However, all the ghosts under him are equally as fearful of his powerful Chandelure and its devastating Sp.Atk as they are of him.

Gu Xiang is pretty competent in terms of fighting but still needs a lot of training, so her Haunter, while decent (and annoying), remains unevolved.

Poor Zhang Chengling and his unimpressive Lillipup. Both of them's got potential (you don't wanna get into a scuffle with a fully evolved Stoutland) but they still have a long way to go.
